Zambales, Catanduanes to brace for 43°C heat index Thurs (April 3)

MANILA, Philippines — Two areas are expected to reach the highest heat index on Thursday (April 3) at 43°C, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

In its latest bulletin, Pagasa reported that its monitoring stations at Iba in Zambales and Virac in Catanduanes forecast heat indices of 43°C in these areas.

If this happens, the two areas will fall under the danger category (42ºC to 51ºC).

The weather bureau said “heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely,” and “heatstroke is probable with continued exposure” under this level.

Meanwhile, below is the list of areas that might be placed under the “extreme caution” category  (33°C to 41°C):
