MMDA: Provincial buses allowed on Edsa on April 9, 16-20

MANILA, Philippines — Provincial buses will be allowed to ply Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (Edsa) for the Day of Valor and parts of Holy Week.
April 9 as well as April 17, 18, and 19 are public holidays.

MMDA Chairperson Don Artes announced this development at a press conference at the agency’s headquarters in Pasig City on Friday.
“Para makabiyahe nang mas mabilis yung ating mga kababayan, papayagan natin ang buses sa Edsa starting April 9, between 10 p.m. to 5 a.m… [S]tarting April 16 hanggang April 20, papayagan natin ng 24 hours ang mga buses sa Edsa,” Artes said.
(So that our citizens can travel faster, we will allow buses to traverse Edsa starting April 9, between 10 p.m. to 5 a.m… Starting April 16 until April 20, we will allow buses on Edsa for 24 hours.)
“[A]ng mga buses galing norte ay hanggang Cubao lang ang pinakamalayo nilang pwede nilang lakbayin. Ganoon din ang galing south, hanggang Pasay lang,” he added.
(Buses from the north will only be allowed up until Cubao. That’s the farthest they can go. The same goes for the south until Pasay only.)

The metropolitan authority also announced deploying over 2,500 personnel for assistance during the Holy Week.
