P28.6-M Parañaque drug bust leaves suspect dead, 4 PDEA agents hurt

MANILA, Philippines — A suspect was killed and four Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) officers were wounded after a buy-bust operation seizing P28.56 million worth of drugs escalated into a shootout.
The operation took place at Barangay San Antonio, Parañaque City on Wednesday afternoon, according to a report from the PDEA on Thursday.
The suspect killed was identified as “Sady,” 32.
Meanwhile, the PDEA report said authorities arrested “Binny,” 23; “Lala,” 26; and “Allan,” 34.
In a press conference on Friday, Director General Isagani Nerez said in Filipino, “The four wounded during the drug operation in Parañaque did not sustain mortal wounds. We are hoping for them to recover immediately.”
“The three are okay, the other is out of danger,” Nerez added.

Authorities confiscated four plastic bags containing 4.2 kilograms of a substance suspected to be shabu (crystal meth) as well as a firearm, ammunition, drug paraphernalia, cellphones, identification cards, and a vehicle during the operation.
The suspects arrested face charges for violating the Dangerous Drugs Act.
